Mallet Toe
Mallet toe is a similar condition to Hammer Toe affecting the distal interphalangeal joint. Hammer Toe is a deformity of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the second, third, or fourth toe causing it to be permanently bent, resembling a hammer.
Conservative treatment of Mallet Toe, generally consists of physical therapy and new shoes with soft, spacious toe boxes, which is enough to resolve the Mallet Toe deformity, while in more severe or longstanding cases of Mallet Toe orthopedic surgery may be necessary to correct the deformity.
